Pressure Rating
Selection is based on the working pressure of the piping system. Blind flanges of different pressure ratings have different thicknesses, materials and structures. For example, in high-pressure steam piping systems, the working pressure is usually above 10MPa, and the blind flanges of corresponding high-pressure ratings, such as PN16, PN25, etc., need to be selected to ensure safe and reliable sealing.
Size specification
To match the nominal diameter of the pipe. Common nominal diameters of pipelines are DN15, DN20, DN50, etc. The inner and outer diameters of blind flanges should correspond precisely to the pipeline dimensions, so as to ensure the accuracy and sealing of the installation.
Material
Consider the characteristics of the medium. Conveying strong corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc., it is appropriate to use stainless steel, such as 316L stainless steel, with good corrosion resistance; conveying high temperature, high pressure and a certain degree of corrosive media, alloy steel can be selected; for ordinary water, air and other media, carbon steel blind flange can usually meet the requirements.
Sealing surface form
Flat sealing surface is suitable for low pressure and clean media; convex and concave sealing surface is used in conjunction with better sealing performance, commonly used in medium-pressure pipeline system; tongue and groove surface sealing surface is suitable for high-pressure, flammable and explosive or toxic media pipeline, which can provide more reliable sealing.
Connection Methods
Common connection methods include butt welding, flat welding, socket welding and so on. Butt welding connection is suitable for high pressure, high temperature pipeline, welding quality is good, can withstand high stress; flat welding connection operation is simple, low cost, suitable for low-pressure pipeline; socket welding is commonly used in small diameter pipeline, can reduce the welding deformation.
Special requirements
In some special environments, such as low-temperature environments, it is necessary to choose materials with good low-temperature toughness and sealing forms to prevent brittle cracks; in places with fire protection requirements, the blind flange with good fire protection performance should be used. At the same time, it is also necessary to consider whether it is necessary to meet the relevant industry standards and norms, such as API standards for the petrochemical industry.
