Advantages

Higher strength: ordinary carbon steel has a certain degree of strength and hardness, able to withstand the pressure in general industrial piping and building water supply and drainage systems, to meet the use of most conventional working conditions.
Easy to process: carbon steel has good processing performance, easy to forge, cutting, thread processing, etc., can easily manufacture a variety of specifications and sizes of threaded flanges, high production efficiency, can quickly meet the needs of engineering construction.
Disadvantages
Poor corrosion resistance: carbon steel is easy to rust in humid air, and in some environments with corrosive media, such as industrial wastewater containing acid and alkali salts, seawater, etc., the corrosion rate will be accelerated, resulting in shortening the service life of the flanges, which need regular anti-corrosion treatment, such as painting, galvanizing, etc., but even so, their corrosion resistance is still limited.
Poor appearance: the surface of carbon steel is easy to oxidize and rust, affecting the overall aesthetics of the piping system. In some places with high requirements for appearance, such as exposed pipelines in commercial buildings and production workshops in the food and beverage industry, the appearance of carbon steel threaded flanges may not be able to meet the requirements.
Stainless Steel Threaded Flange
Advantages
Strong corrosion resistance: stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, can resist the erosion of a variety of media, such as acid, alkali, salt, etc. In the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries, it can ensure that the piping system is stable in the long-term exposure to corrosive media or a certain sanitary requirements of the environment to reduce the frequency of repair and replacement, reducing the maintenance costs.
Good hygiene performance: stainless steel surface is smooth, not easy to breed bacteria and dirt, not easy to be contaminated by the medium, in line with food hygiene and medical hygiene standards, so in the food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals and other industries with strict hygiene requirements are widely used.
Beautiful appearance: stainless steel has a metallic luster, neat and beautiful appearance, both indoors and outdoors in the piping system, can enhance the overall visual effect, suitable for places with high requirements for the appearance, such as high-grade building water supply and drainage systems, air conditioning piping in commercial centers and so on.
Disadvantages
Higher cost: the price of stainless steel material is much higher than carbon steel, coupled with the relatively high processing difficulty of stainless steel, so the manufacturing cost of stainless steel threaded flange is higher, resulting in its application in some of the general piping systems with strict cost control and low requirements for corrosion resistance is limited.
Processing difficulty: stainless steel hardness is high, the processing process is prone to work hardening phenomenon, the processing equipment and tool requirements are high, the processing efficiency is relatively low, increasing the processing cost and manufacturing cycle.
In summary, carbon steel threaded flanges and stainless steel threaded flanges have their own advantages and disadvantages, and in practical application, it is necessary to choose the appropriate flange material according to the specific use of the environment, media characteristics, budget and other factors for comprehensive consideration.
