Stub Ends are butt-welded fittings that can be used in conjunction with Lap Joint Flanges as an alternative to Welding Neck Flanges for making flanged connections. This method is particularly advantageous in piping systems with high material costs, as the Lap Joint Flange does not require the same grade of material as the pipe and Stub Ends, thus reducing costs.
