Marine Desalination Duplex 2205 Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe Corrosion Resistant

This Marine Desalination Duplex 2205 Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe is produced from the 2205 duplex grade (UNS S31803 / EN 1.4462), a two phase stainless steel with a balanced ferritic and austenitic microstructure. This structure combines high strength with outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, making the pipe an excellent choice for seawater desalination, offshore platforms, shipbuilding and marine cooling systems.

Where 316L would pit in warm chlorinated seawater, 2205 duplex maintains integrity and extends the working life of the plant. The pipe is manufactured by the cold drawn seamless process and supplied pickled and annealed in outside diameters from 6 mm to 630 mm and wall thickness from 0.5 mm to 30 mm.

Because duplex 2205 has roughly twice the yield strength of 304 or 316, thinner walls can often be used for the same pressure duty, saving weight and cost on large desalination projects. Each heat is tested for chemical composition, phase balance and mechanical properties, and supplied with a mill test certificate for full traceability.
