Stainless steel by order is available in a variety of specifications and materials, which are described in detail below:
Specification
Nominal diameter: common DN6, DN8, DN10, DN15, DN20, DN25, DN32, DN40, DN50, DN65, DN80, DN100 and so on. For example, DN15 means that the nominal diameter of 15 millimeters, generally used for smaller flow of pipeline connections, such as laboratory instrumentation pipeline connections; DN100 is commonly used in larger flow of industrial pipelines, such as chemical plant material handling pipelines.
Outside diameter size: corresponds to the nominal diameter, different nominal diameter of stainless steel by the order of different outside diameter size. For example, DN15 stainless steel by order outside diameter is usually about 22 mm, DN20 outside diameter is about 28 mm.
Pressure rating: PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, etc. PN6 means the nominal pressure is 0.6MPa, which is suitable for some low-pressure fluid conveying system, such as ordinary water supply and drainage system; PN40 means the nominal pressure is 4.0MPa, which is commonly used in high-pressure industrial piping system, such as petrochemical high-pressure reactor feeding pipeline.
Material
304 stainless steel
Composition: Mainly contains about 18% chromium (Cr) and 8% nickel (Ni).
Characteristics: good corrosion resistance, heat resistance and low temperature strength, good processing performance, can resist corrosion of atmosphere, water and other common media, non-magnetic, cost-effective.
Application: Widely used in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, building decoration, chemical and other industries, such as food processing equipment piping connections, building water supply and drainage piping connections.
316 stainless steel
Composition: On the basis of 304 stainless steel, molybdenum (Mo) element is added, generally the molybdenum content is about 2% - 3%.
Characteristics: better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel, especially stronger corrosion resistance to chlorides, etc., and higher strength in high temperature environment.
Application: Commonly used in marine environment, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals and other fields with high requirements for corrosion resistance, such as pipeline connection of seawater desalination equipment, pipeline connection of chemical enterprises in contact with corrosive media.
321 stainless steel
Composition: Titanium (Ti) is added on the basis of 304 stainless steel.
Characteristics: The addition of titanium improves the resistance of stainless steel to intergranular corrosion, and has better stability at high temperatures, which effectively prevents intergranular corrosion of the material in high temperature environments.
Application: Commonly used in piping systems in high temperature environments, such as boiler piping connections in the electric power industry, high temperature piping connections in the aerospace field, and so on.
