1. Product Description

This product is a butt-welding concentric reducer manufactured in accordance with ASTM A815 and ASME B16.9 standards . The material is UNS S31803 (commonly known as Duplex 2205), a dual-phase stainless steel with roughly equal proportions of austenite and ferrite . This 2" Schedule 10 fitting is designed for butt-weld connection in piping systems requiring high strength and exceptional corrosion resistance.

5. Functions

The concentric reducer connects pipes of different diameters on the same centerline, facilitating smooth transition from a larger bore to a smaller bore . It reduces turbulence and pressure drop while maintaining proper flow and ensuring efficient fluid transportation in piping systems 

6. Installation Instructions

  1. Preparation: Clean pipe ends and reducer weld areas of all contaminants.

  2. Alignment: Accurately align the reducer with pipes using alignment tools to ensure concentricity.

  3. Welding: Perform butt-welding following approved Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) with certified welders. For duplex materials, strict heat input control is essential.

  4. Post-Weld Treatment: Solution annealing at 1020-1100°C followed by rapid cooling is required to restore the duplex structure and corrosion resistance . Pickling/passivation recommended.

7. Precautions

  • Temperature Limitation: Not suitable for use above 300°C or below -50°C due to reduced toughness outside this range .

  • Ferrite Balance: Ensure proper welding procedure to maintain the 50/50 austenite-ferrite microstructure .

  • Annealing: Full solution annealing treatment is mandatory if embrittlement occurs during fabrication .
