Butt-welding Pipe Fittings Eccentric Reducer ASTM A815 UNS S32101 1"Schedule 10 ASME B16.9 Duplex Stainless Steel
1. Product Description
This product is a butt-welding eccentric reducer manufactured in accordance with ASTM A815 and ASME B16.9 standards. The material is UNS S32101 (LDX 2101 / EN 1.4162), a lean duplex stainless steel with a dual-phase microstructure of approximately 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. This 1" Schedule 10 fitting is designed for butt-weld connection in piping systems.

3. Application / Usage
This eccentric reducer is ideal for demanding environments:
-
Chemical Industry: Heat exchangers, tanks, and containers
-
Infrastructure: Bridges, sluice gates, structural components
-
Storage Tanks: Palm oil, wine, potable and sewage water, biodiesel, fruit juice
-
General Applications: Seawater systems, flue-gas cleaning, water heaters
-
Horizontal Piping: Eccentric design eliminates vapor pockets when installed with flat side up
4. Advantages
-
Superior Strength: Yield strength (~500 MPa) is approximately double that of standard 304/316L, enabling thinner wall designs.
-
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: PREN value of ~26–27 provides resistance to pitting on par with standard austenitic grades.
-
Cost-Effective: Lower nickel content (1.35-1.70%) compared to 300-series austenitic steels offers significant material cost savings.
-
Vapor Pocket Elimination: Eccentric design with flat side up prevents air/gas accumulation in horizontal lines.
-
Good Weldability: High nitrogen content ensures fast austenite reformation during thermal cycling.
5. Functions
The eccentric reducer connects pipes of different diameters with an offset centerline (one flat side). This design is specifically used in horizontal piping to prevent vapor or gas pockets that could affect flow efficiency or damage pumps. It facilitates smooth transition from a larger bore to a smaller bore with one side remaining level.
6. Installation Instructions
-
Preparation: Clean pipe ends and reducer weld areas of contaminants (oil, dirt, rust).
-
Alignment: Accurately align the reducer with pipes. For horizontal lines, install with flat side up to eliminate vapor pockets.
-
Welding: Perform butt-welding following approved Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) with certified welders. Due to duplex material, strict heat input control is essential.
-
Post-Weld Treatment: Solution annealing at 1020-1100°C followed by rapid cooling is recommended to restore the duplex structure and corrosion resistance. Pickling/passivation advised.
7. Precautions
-
Orientation: Eccentric reducers in horizontal piping must be installed with flat side up to prevent gas accumulation.
-
Ferrite Balance: Ensure proper welding procedure to maintain the 50/50 austenite-ferrite microstructure.
-
Temperature Limitation: Not recommended for use above 300°C or below -50°C. Maximum corrosion temperature: 430°C.
-
Annealing: Intermetallic phase formation is sluggish, but precipitation of nitrides/carbides at 600-800°C can affect material properties.
8. Shipping & Delivery
-
Standard delivery time is typically 15–30 days, subject to order quantity, specific sizes, and specification availability.
9. Payment Terms
-
Common international payment methods include T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) and L/C at sight (Letter of Credit) .
10. Packaging
-
Products are securely packed in non-fumigation plywood cases or wooden crates with internal cushioning to ensure safe transportation and prevent damage during transit.
11. After-Sales / Return & Warranty Policy
-
All products undergo 100% strict quality inspection before shipment.
-
In case of quality issues, retain original packaging and provide relevant photos or third-party inspection reports.
-
Specific return, exchange, and warranty terms are subject to the final sales contract agreement.
