Equal Threaded Forged Tee ASTM A815 UNS S31803 2''SCH10 ASME B16.11 Duplex Stainless Steel
1. Product Description
This product is an equal threaded forged tee manufactured from UNS S31803 (Duplex 2205) in accordance with ASTM A815 and ASME B16.11 standards. Unlike butt-weld fittings (ASME B16.9), forged fittings under B16.11 are produced by shaping solid steel billets under high pressure, resulting in a tighter grain structure and superior performance under high pressure, thermal cycling, and vibration. This 2" Schedule 10 fitting features threaded ends (NPT or BSPT) for mechanical connection without welding.
2. Key Product Parameters
| Parameter | Details / Range |
|---|---|
| Dimensional Standard | ASME B16.11 (Forged Fittings – Threaded & Socket Weld) |
| Material Standard | ASTM A815 / ASME SA815 |
| Material Grade | UNS S31803 (Duplex 2205 / WNR 1.4462) |
| Type | Equal Tee (all three ports same bore size) |
| Nominal Size | 2" (DN50) |
| Wall Thickness | Schedule 10 (SCH10S) |
| End Connection | Threaded (NPT, BSPT, BSP) |
| Pressure Class | Class 2000, 3000, 6000 (per B16.11) |
| Yield Strength (min) | 450 MPa |
| Tensile Strength | 650–880 MPa |
| Elongation (min) | 25% |
| Density | ~7.8 g/cm³ |
| PREN Value | ~34–36 |
| Heat Treatment | Solution annealing at 1020–1100°C, water/air quenching |
3. Application / Usage
This equal tee is ideal for small-bore piping systems requiring high strength and corrosion resistance:
-
Oil & Gas: Wellhead connections, instrument piping, chemical injection lines
-
Chemical Processing: Chloride-containing process streams, acid services
-
Marine & Desalination: Seawater piping systems, offshore platforms
-
Pulp and Paper: Bleaching lines, digester systems
-
Power Generation: Cooling water systems, heat exchanger piping
4. Advantages
-
Superior Strength: Yield strength (~450 MPa) is approximately double that of standard austenitic stainless steels, enabling thinner wall designs
-
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: PREN value ~34–36 provides outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking
-
Cost-Effective: Lower nickel content compared to 300-series austenitic grades offers significant material cost savings
-
Threaded Convenience: No welding required; fastest installation and easiest disassembly for maintenance
-
Forged Integrity: Tighter grain structure than cast fittings; superior performance under pressure and vibration
5. Functions
The equal tee connects three sections of pipe in a T-shaped configuration with threaded joints, enabling fluid to be divided from a single inlet into two branch outlets, or combined from two inlets into one outlet. It provides a permanent, leak-proof junction point with all three ports of equal diameter (2"), specifically for small-bore piping systems (NPS 1/8" to 4").
6. Installation Instructions
-
Preparation: Clean pipe threads and fitting threads; remove all dirt, oil, and debris.
-
Thread Sealant: Apply Teflon tape or pipe dope to male threads to ensure a reliable seal.
-
Thread Engagement: Screw the fitting onto the pipe by hand, then tighten with a wrench to the appropriate torque.
-
Avoid Over-tightening: Do not exceed recommended torque to prevent cracking the fitting body (especially critical for stainless steel, which can gall easily).
7. Precautions
-
Thread Compatibility: NPT and BSP threads are not interchangeable. Use the correct thread type per system specification.
-
Temperature Limitation: Avoid use above 300°C where duplex materials may degrade.
-
Vibration Sensitivity: Threaded fittings are not recommended on lines subject to significant vibration, thermal shock, or hazardous fluid service.
-
Ferrite Balance: Ensure proper material specification to maintain the 50/50 austenite-ferrite microstructure.
-
Pressure Class Selection: Match the fitting class (2000/3000/6000) to the pipe schedule and system pressure.
8. Shipping & Delivery
-
Standard delivery time is typically 15–30 days, subject to order quantity and specification availability.
9. Payment Terms
-
Common international payment methods include T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) and L/C at sight (Letter of Credit).
10. Packaging
-
Products are securely packed in plywood cases or wooden crates to ensure safe transportation and prevent damage during transit.
11. After-Sales / Return & Warranty Policy
-
All products undergo strict 100% quality inspection before shipment.
-
In case of quality issues, retain original packaging and provide relevant photos or third-party inspection reports.
