Corrosion Resistant 316L Stainless Steel Elbow
Our corrosion resistant 316L stainless steel elbow is precision-formed for piping systems that must deliver long, maintenance-free service in aggressive environments. Manufactured from low-carbon 316L austenitic stainless steel (UNS S31603) with a 2–3% molybdenum addition, this butt weld elbow provides outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion caused by chlorides, dilute acids and marine atmospheres. It is the fitting of choice for chemical processing, desalination, marine and offshore piping, and pharmaceutical lines where cleanliness and durability are equally critical.
Every elbow is produced to ASME B16.9 dimensional standards and ASTM A403 WP316L material requirements. After forming, each fitting is pickled and passivated to remove free iron and restore the protective chromium-oxide layer, then inspected for dimensional accuracy, wall thickness and surface finish. Our engineers have more than a decade of experience supplying stainless steel pipe fittings to buyers worldwide, and every shipment is supported by full mill test certification and a documented quality-control trace.
Quality is assured through a controlled production flow covering raw-material verification, forming, heat treatment, pickling and passivation, and final dimensional inspection. Each heat of 316L is checked against its mill certificate, and finished elbows are measured for wall thickness, ovality and bevel accuracy to guarantee a perfect fit with the matching pipe and a smooth, leak-free weld joint.

Key Features & Advantages
- Low-carbon 316L grade eliminates intergranular corrosion after welding, keeping joints sound.
- Molybdenum addition significantly improves resistance to chloride pitting and crevice attack.
- Smooth butt weld ends support full-penetration welding for leak-free, high-integrity joints.
- Pickled and passivated surface removes contaminants and rebuilds the protective oxide film.
- Available in both seamless and welded construction to balance cost and pressure rating.
- Full chemical composition and mechanical property traceability with EN 10204 3.1 certificates.
Applications
These elbows are widely used across demanding industries, including:
- Chemical and petrochemical process piping
- Marine, offshore and coastal installations
- Desalination and water treatment plants
- Food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing
- Pulp and paper, and general corrosive service
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes 316L more corrosion resistant than standard 304?
A: 316L contains 2–3% molybdenum and a reduced carbon content, which together deliver markedly better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments such as seawater, chemical solutions and coastal atmospheres.
Q: Which applications is this corrosion resistant elbow best suited for?
A: It is ideal for chemical processing plants, marine and offshore piping, desalination systems, food and pharmaceutical production lines, and wastewater treatment facilities.
Q: Do you provide material test certificates?
A: Yes. Every order includes an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate showing chemical composition and mechanical properties. EN 10204 3.2 with third-party inspection is available on request.
Q: Can you supply pickled and passivated elbows?
A: Yes, pickling and passivation is our standard surface treatment for stainless steel fittings, ensuring an optimal corrosion-resistant surface before delivery.
