Forged Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel Butt Weld Tee
This forged corrosion resistant stainless steel butt weld tee combines the strength of closed-die forging with the chemical resilience of SS316L, duplex 2205 and super duplex 2507 alloys. The result is a pipe fitting that stands up to aggressive media including chlorides, seawater, acids and caustic solutions across chemical, marine and offshore installations.
Forging aligns the grain structure and eliminates the internal porosity common in cast fittings, so the tee delivers consistently higher impact strength and longer fatigue life. Each fitting is solution annealed, passivated and dimensionally verified to ASME B16.9 and EN 10253, with beveled ends prepared for full penetration butt welding.

FAQ
Q: Why choose a forged tee over a cast tee?
A: Forging compresses and aligns the grain structure, eliminating porosity and producing a stronger, more fatigue resistant fitting that performs better under cyclic pressure and impact loads.
Q: Which grade is best for seawater service?
A: Super duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is recommended for seawater and offshore duty because its high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content provides outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
Q: Are the butt weld ends ready for welding?
A: Yes. Ends are beveled to ASME B16.25 with a 37.5° bevel angle and 1.6 mm root face for clean, full penetration butt welding.
Manufacturing & Quality Control
The forged corrosion resistant tee is closed-die forged from SS316L, duplex 2205 or super duplex 2507 billet, then solution annealed and water quenched to restore optimum corrosion resistance. A subsequent passivation treatment removes surface iron contamination and builds a uniform passive layer. Dimensional checks are performed against ASME B16.9, and weld ends are prepared to ASME B16.25 with a 37.5° bevel.
- Solution annealed and quenched for balanced ferrite-austenite structure.
- Passivated to restore the chromium rich protective layer.
- Beveled ends prepared to ASME B16.25 for full penetration welding.
- EN 10204 3.1 certificates and PMI verification available.
More Questions
Q: What is the difference between 2205 and 2507 duplex?
A: Duplex 2205 offers a good balance of strength and corrosion resistance, while super duplex 2507 has higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content, giving roughly 25% higher yield strength and a higher PREN for harsher chloride service.
We supply forged corrosion resistant stainless steel butt weld tees to chemical plants, shipyards and offshore operators worldwide, with consistent quality backed by ISO 9001 certified production and full material traceability on every fitting.
