1.Product Description
API carbon steel pipe is a high-strength carbon steel pipe manufactured in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification 5L, Line Pipe. Originally published in 1924 as API's first standard, API Spec 5L has supported the safe and reliable manufacture of steel line pipe used to transport oil and gas for more than a century.
API carbon steel pipes cover both seamless and welded manufacturing processes (including ERW, LSAW, SSAW, and EFW). Products are supplied in two Product Specification Levels: PSL1 and PSL2. PSL1 covers basic quality requirements suitable for standard pipeline service, while PSL2 imposes stricter chemical composition, mechanical properties, and testing requirements.
The pipe covers multiple steel grades, including Grade B, X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65, X70, X80, etc.. The number following "X" in the grade designation indicates the minimum yield strength in ksi (thousand pounds per square inch). For example, X56 signifies a minimum yield strength of 56,000 psi (386 MPa).
