1.Product Description
API 5L carbon steel pipe is a carbon and low-alloy steel line pipe designed, manufactured, and inspected in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute Specification 5L. This specification is technically harmonized with ISO 3183 and equivalently adopted in China as GB/T 9711, enabling global mutual recognition across major oil and gas markets.
Steel grades range from A25, B, X42 up to X80 (higher grades available upon special agreement), where the number after X denotes the minimum yield strength in ksi. Manufacturing processes are divided into Seamless (SMLS) and Welded, with the latter further classified by forming method into Longitudinal (LSAW/ERW) and Spiral (SSAW), each suited to different diameters and pressure ratings according to project requirements.
