Nickel Alloy Welded Pipe Hastelloy C276 Anti-Corrosion High Strength ASME SB619 for Chemical Industry
1. Product Description
Nickel alloy pipe is a solid‑solution strengthened or precipitation‑hardened tubular product based on nickel, alloyed with chromium, molybdenum, copper, aluminum, titanium, etc., available in seamless and welded forms. The manufacturing route includes vacuum induction melting, electroslag remelting, hot extrusion, cold rolling, and cold drawing, with final products supplied in annealed, solution‑treated, or cold‑worked conditions. According to alloy systems, they are classified into Ni‑Cr series (oxidation‑resistant), Ni‑Mo series (resistant to reducing acids), Ni‑Cu series (seawater‑resistant), and Ni‑Cr‑Mo series (mixed acid‑resistant). Surfaces can be pickled, bright annealed, mechanically polished, or grit‑blasted to suit various service environments. Mainstream grades such as Alloy 600, 625, 800, 825, C‑276, 400, and 718 have mature production and inspection systems.
2. Product Applications
Nickel alloy pipes are widely applied in the following fields due to their unique corrosion and heat resistance:
-
Oil extraction & refining: Downhole tubing in sour oil/gas fields, surface gathering lines, and hydroprocessing units in refineries.
-
Chemical plants: Heat exchangers and evaporators in chlor‑alkali industry, as well as piping for organic acid production (e.g., acetic acid, phthalic anhydride).
-
Nuclear industry: U‑bend tubes for steam generators and cooling tubes for control rod drive mechanisms in PWRs.
-
Aerospace: Combustor tailpipes and thrust reverser ducts in jet engines.
-
New energy: Heat collecting tubes in concentrated solar power, and molten salt thermal storage pipelines.
-
Pharmaceutical & food: Jacketed tubing for sterile bioreactors, and conveying lines for beer and dairy products.
3. Product Advantages
-
Wide‑temperature adaptability: Maintains stable mechanical properties and corrosion resistance from cryogenic (-196℃) to ultra‑high temperatures (1100℃).
-
Resistance to localized corrosion: Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular attack, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in halide‑containing environments.
-
Ease of fabrication and joining: Weldable by common processes like TIG and SAW without post‑weld heat treatment; excellent cold bending capability for tight‑radius elbows.
-
Low magnetic permeability: Most nickel alloys are austenitic with permeability close to 1, ensuring safety in electromagnetic‑sensitive instruments and medical devices.
-
Long‑term cost efficiency: Higher initial cost than standard stainless steel, but significantly lower life‑cycle cost due to extended service life.
