Nickel Based Alloy Pipe Inconel 718 High Strength Corrosion Resistant ASME SB444 for Aerospace
1. Product Description
Nickel alloy pipe is a special alloy tubular product with nickel as the matrix, alloyed with molybdenum, chromium, cobalt, aluminum, iron, etc., available in seamless and welded configurations. The manufacturing process employs a duplex route of vacuum induction melting plus electroslag remelting to ensure cleanliness and compositional uniformity, followed by hot extrusion, multi-pass cold rolling and cold drawing, combined with intermediate bright annealing, to finally obtain dimensionally accurate tubes with superior surface quality. Representative grades include Hastelloy B-3 (Ni-Mo series, offering exceptional resistance to strong reducing acids such as hydrochloric and sulfuric acids) and Inconel 617 (Ni-Cr-Co-Mo series, combining high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance). Products are supplied in solution-treated, stress-relieved, or cold-worked conditions, with tube ends beveled or plain, and surfaces pickled, bright-annealed, or centerless ground to suit different joining methods including welding, expanding, or threading. Each tube undergoes grain size assessment and corrosion testing to verify its suitability for severe service conditions.
2. Product Applications
-
Fine chemicals : Hydrochloric acid regeneration towers, acetic acid cracking furnace tubes, pharmaceutical intermediate synthesis reactors, and distillation systems (B-3).
-
Aerospace propulsion: Gas turbine combustor transition sections, turbine casing cooling tubes, and tailpipe high-temperature liners (617).
-
Petrochemical units: Butadiene extraction towers, styrene condenser tube bundles, and overhead lines in crude atmospheric/vacuum distillation units processing sour crude.
-
Nuclear reactor systems: Intermediate heat exchanger tubes in high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR), and liquid metal cooling circuit piping.
-
Heat treatment & metal processing: Radiant tubes in continuous annealing lines, electrode protection tubes in salt bath furnaces, and laminar cooling system piping in rolling mills.
-
Waste incineration & biomass power: High-temperature superheater tubes, water wall tubes, and flue gas reheater tube bundles.
-
Electrochemistry & battery manufacturing: Sintering furnace tubes for lithium battery cathode materials, and anolyte circulation lines in electrolytic cells.
3. Product Advantages
-
Excellent corrosion resistance in strong reducing acids: B-3 exhibits extremely low uniform corrosion rates in hydrochloric, sulfuric, and formic acids, with good immunity to pitting and crevice attack, making it one of the few viable metallic materials in such environments.
-
Ultra-high temperature creep strength and rupture life: 617 maintains high tensile strength and creep rupture life in the range of 800~1100℃, outperforming most superalloys and suitable for prolonged thermal exposure.
-
Resistance to thermal fatigue and thermal shock: Both alloys possess excellent thermal cycling stability, resisting cracking under frequent start-stop or severe temperature fluctuation conditions.
-
Fabrication flexibility: Can be formed by conventional welding, bending, and machining without requiring post-weld heat treatment, simplifying equipment manufacturing processes.
-
Resistance to chloride and fluoride attack: High resistance to halide-induced stress corrosion cracking, suitable for chlorine/fluorine-bearing acidic process streams.
